Taxonomic Comment: Hamlin (1972) accepted Lophocolea bidentata (L.) Dumort. for New Zealand, but Glenny (1998) regarded it as a synonym of Chiloscyphus chlorophyllus (Hook.f. & Taylor) Mitt. However, Engel & Glenny (2019, vol. 2) regard Heteroscyphus chlorophyllus (Hook.f. & Taylor) Schiffn. as a New Zealand endemic, so it is unlikely that Lophocolea bidentata is the same entity. Tropicos (viewed Feb. 2024) list a number of accepted names for this Lophocolea bidentata, so here the accepted name is regarded as "unknown".
