- Plants of the World Online give this name as Crocus chrysanthus (Herb.) Herb., but what I have found as the probable basionym, a var. chrysanthus, does not have a species name that it is attached to, but has "Periantho aureo". I therefore do not think the first record of the name "chrysanthus" for Crocus, on p. 27, of Edwards's Botanical Register 29(Misc.): 27 (1843), is a valid publication.
