- Nomenclatural Comment
- MB 805735, David Galloway recorded this taxon from a number of places in the North and South Islands (Galloway 2007) as Collema kauaiense. He also recorded it as a component on a specimen he collected on Steward Island in 1998, although the determination may have been as late as 2014. The name Collema kauaiense was synonymised with Scytinium kauaiense by Otálora et al. (2014). However, Index Fungorum regards the basionym for Scytinium kauaiense, Collema kauaiense, as invalid, citing Art. 35.a(a) (Shenzhen), and the editorial comment is: Text reads '... it is impossible to place this specimen definitively even in the genus Collema ...'
