Nomenclatural Comment
The name Manoao is the Maori name for the single species in the genus., Molloy separated [Manoao] from Lagarostrobus. Subsequent DNA-based investigations by Quinn and co-workers alledgedly refuted this segregation, but with only two species ('terminal taxa') represented in any cladistic analyses they will come out as sister taxa at their closest, and at what rank you then recognize them remains a matter of judgement [...]. Molloy has given quite a number of differences between the two, including numbers of chromosomes, and together with their likely long (>85 million years) separation across a widening ocean, we may as well recognize them as two separate genera.
