Nomenclatural Comment: New Zealand, Auckland: Birkdale neighborhood, Eskdale Bush Preserve, along trail head off Eskdale Road, 36°48'00"S, 174°42'00E, 25 m elev., mixed broad leaf forest with tree ferns, on bark, 6 Nov. 2017, F. Grewe 3008 & T. Widhelm (AK, holotype; F, isotype)., The taxon name is based on its occurrence in New Zealand., Mycobank MB 835425, Material previously named either as L. lobificans or L. finki is likely to be either L. ulrikii or L. neozealandica.
