- Type: — NEW ZEALAND. North Island, Waitākere Ranges, Whatipu, 37°2’34.7 S, 174°30’24.13 E, A.J. Marshall (AJM91), 24 Mar 2024. On bark of Cordyline australis, 4 m, (holotype UNITEC 14328, isotypes, AK, B)., The epithet ‘kiritea’ is based on te reo Māori [Māori language] meaning ‘white skinned’ and refers to the white covering the species applies to the bark of its host phorophyte. This name was bestowed, following consultation, by the iwi [tribe] Te Kawerau ā Maki who exercise mana whenua [custodianship] over the area where the authors first recognised this species.
