- Taxonomic Comment
- Persson originally described this taxon as Hodgsonia mirabilis Perss. in a brief, personally published, pamphlet in 1953, but the genus name was illegitimate. He then, in 1954, published and even briefer "correction" in which he validly renamed the genus as NeohodgsoniaPerss, but did not mention the species. Later that year he published more on Neohodgsonia, including the species Neohodgsonia mirabils (Perss.) Perss. in Persson, H. 1954: On Neohodgsonia H. Perss. the new hepatic genus from new Zealand and Tristan da Cunha. Botaniska Notiser 1: 39–44.
