Nomenclatural Comment
Gliophorus pallidus represents the brown end of the grass-green to orange-brown colour range of a polychromatic species, fide Young 1999, pp. 556–558, olotype (PDD 27090); Isotype (Herb. HK. ZT 68/613): 'Ngamoko Track, Urewera National Park, New Zealand.; leg. Horak, 27.VI.1968'.
Taxonomic Comment
Young's assertion that G. pallidus is the same as G. graminicolor is not supported by sequence data. In addition G. graminicolor sensu Young/Australia is also a different taxon to the original NZ species. [JAC]
