Nomenclatural Comment: The basionym cited here, Grimmia chlorocarpa Mitt, was regarded by Bednarek-Ochyra as having an inadequate description and she listed it in the synonymy of her combination in Bucklandiella as a nom. nud. .She regarded Racomitrium chlorocarpa Paris, Actes Soc. Linn. Bordeaux 51: 108 (1897) as the basionym., This species has been recognised in New Zealand recently, however, the PND follows Larrain et. all (2013) and the opinions of A.J. Fife in recognising Racomitrium s.l. rather than segregate genera, and follows A.J. Fife and earlier workers such as Dixon (1926) in regarding this as part of the variation of Racomitrium crispulum.
