Taxonomic Comment
This fluorescent pseudomonad was the causal agent of a leaf spot and rot of leaves of Lactuca sativa in USA (FL, LA, MI, NY, VA, Elliott 1951). Later reported from Hawaii. Symptoms have also been seen in Canada (BC) and Australia (NSW). Elliott (1951) also lists Lycopersicon esculentum as a host. Various cultures were available in culture collections when the Approved Lists were drawn up, but none could be accepted as authentic and the name was not accepted.
