- The epithet crispulum is apt, describing the strongly crisped dry leaves in the typical variety., Holotype: N.Z., Bay of Islands, “on clay earth at roots of trees”, Aug. 1841, J.D. Hooker s.n., (“Wilson 377”), BM-Wilson! The Wilson herbarium (at BM) contains several duplicates of the type of D. crispulum. All are attached to a single sheet, bearing drawings and a handwritten draft of the description that was published in Wilson (1854, p. 122); collectively this material is deemed to constitute the holotype.
