Nomenclatural Comment
Notes on the validity of the publication of the genus name along with the species name Dacrydium cupressinum can be found in pages 50-54 and 159-161 of Nicolson & Rosberg ( 2003), Farjon 2001 gives Sol. ex. G.Forst. as the authors. Forster 1786 does mention the taxon as described by Solander in relation of its qualities for beer making. The description in 1786 was purely culinary, so 1803 is when the name is first validly published by Lambert.
