- Nomenclatural Comment
- Walsh N.G. & Coates F. 1997 synonymised this name with P. phylicifolia subsp. phylicifolia. The type of this name is based on a Tasmanian plant that is not present in New Zealand. Walsh (pers. comm. 2000) suggested to reinstate Colenso's name P. amoena for the New Zealand plants. Some further study is apparently required.
