Nomenclatural Comment: Type Locality: Rock and Pillar Range, Otago. Type: OTA 4685, G. T. S. Baylis (Bottom right specimen), Holotype: OTA 4685, Rock and Pillar Range, Otago, G.T.S. Baylis, 8.3.1958, "c. 3500'. In turf with Poa colensoi" (bottom right specimen), Species epithet published as " baxteri" but as it was named after "Mrs. Baxter", it has been corrected to "baxterae"., "Named after Mrs. Baxter, Brighton, Otago, who sent me living material of the variety from a Dunstan Range plant growing in her garden."
