- We are aware that POWO is using that name (Elodea densa). According to their website, they’re following a 2021 Spanish paper on alien species (https://dx.doi.org/10.5209/bocm.75354), which seems like an unusual choice. We prefer to stick with Egeria densa because it is the more widely used and familiar name in the scientific community, especially here in New Zealand. It is also the name used in most floras, databases, and management plans, which helps keep things consistent and avoids confusion.
