Taxonomic Comment
Monotypic family based on a rDNA phylogeny, with Patellariopsis represented by P. atrovinosa. A second species, P. denisii appears to be phylogentically distinct (ITS and LSU sequence data only). The generic type species P. clavispora, has no DNA sequence data available.
