The data may contain inaccuracies, as the database it has been drawn from is subject to ongoing development., Holotype: New Zealand, Middle Island, Dr C.H.F. Peters, 1874 (image in Morton, C.V., Amer. Fern J. 48: 76, 1958). It is likely that this species was described from an American specimen inadvertently mixed with other material collected in New Zealand by C.H.F. Peters (see under Polypodium vulgare).
