- The significance of contiguum, meaning touching or neighbouring, is not apparent. Ben Tan (pers. comm., 6 April 2009) has suggested that it may allude to the overlapping leaf bases, which he thinks are “unlike the other species of the genus”., Lectotype: Tasmania, Gunn 51, BM-Hooker 851175! (Designated by Ramsay et al., 2002, p. 41.)
