Nomenclatural Comment
It is assumed that both hybrid knotweeds are in New Zealand: Reynoutria ×moravica and Reynoutria ×bohemica. Reynoutria ×bohemica (R. japonica× sachalinensis) has spots on the stems and no purple leaf margins while Reynoutria ×moravica (R. compacta × sachalinensis has no spots but purple leaf margins. Reynoutria ×moravica is distinguished from R. sachalinensis by the absence of long hairs of the underside of the leaves. see https://inaturalist.nz/observations/66455929 and https://inaturalist.nz/observations/38508797.
